About the photographer

Leigh-Ann Esty was born and raised in Maine. After high school, she and her twin sister, Sara, packed up their lives and moved from their small hometown to the vibrant city of Miami Beach. There, Leigh-Ann spent 12 years dancing with Miami City Ballet Company where she performed many celebrated works by renowned choreographers, such as Alexei Ratmansky, Justin Peck, Twyla Tharp, Paul Taylor, and George Balanchine. After her career with MCB, she joined the first National tour of Broadway’s An American in Paris. She is currently on the road, and getting to see the country in its entirety.

Leigh-Ann was awarded a merit prize for National Geographic Traveler Magazine’s 2009 “World In Focus” photo contest. Her photograph, Ants of the Eiffel (above), was published in the January/February edition of the magazine. Her photo was on display at the Jacob Javits Center in New York, along with the other awarded photos. More of Leigh-Ann’s photos have been published in Pointe Magazine, Dance Magazine, and featured on Miami City Ballet Company’s website. Other photo exposure includes Miami City Ballet Company’s programs and invitations. Leigh-Ann had the pleasure of being published this year in Jennifer Kronenberg’s So You Want To Be A Ballet Dancer?, and various news papers around the United States.

As an aspiring photographer, Leigh-Ann hopes to continue to expand her resume, and strives to capture the world with her unique eye through her lens.
